  1. Advantange over expert systems

  4.         The one thing common to all the "exotic" computer approaches --
  5.         operations research, artificial intelligence, expert system, neural
  6.         networks, and hypertext -- are decision trees.
  7.  
  8.         However, only in hypertext are these trees visible, understandable,
  9.         and easily modifiable by lay persons.  The benefits of this are:

  11.            (1)  Hypertext classifications are easy to use
  12.            (2)  Hypertext users try alternate paths to check answer stability
  13.            (3)  Hypertext construction requires only a word processor
  14.            (4)  Hypertext menus easily represent the "rules of experts"
  15.            (5)  Hypertext systems are much faster to build
  16.            (6)  Hypertext users manually make choices -- others are automatic
  17.            (7)  Hypertext delivers knowledge -- others produce answers
  18.            (8)  Hypertext systems can be much larger than other technologies
